The Psychology in Health and Social Care Awareness Course provides a greater awareness of the importance of psychology and how psychological studies have shaped health and social care settings.
Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind taking into account all of the functions of the human brain. Psychological studies give context to and help us understand human behaviour. For example, psychologists can study and understand different mental health conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression and anxiety.
Practitioners who have a basic understanding of psychology can recognise the importance of caring for an individual and foresee how individuals may react to specific situations. Overall, a basic understanding of human psychology helps practitioners provide appropriate support and advice to individuals.
